This strategy for the Society covering the next ten years was adopted at the Annual General Meeting in June 2022. The Society’s Essex Industrial Archaeological Group has adopted a sister strategy. The structure is deliberately a fairly uncontroversial broad brush document, concentrating as it does on the Society’s strengths, such as its publications, its website, its library etc, but indicating where the Society could benefit from new or slightly different approaches. One of those should be improving the Society’s social media presence, particularly if we are to recruit younger members. Another, longer term, need is to keep our eyes on technological and digital advances in publishing.
The Society’s Councill will begin the task of implementing some 45 targets arising from the different headings, and will report back regularly on progress.
